• This medication is used as a moisturizer to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin and minor skin irritations.

• Vegetable glycerin may provide some relief from constipation.

It is used in products such as Vicks VapoRub. Camphor is applied to the skin to relieve pain and reduce itching.It is also applied to the skin on the neck and chest so that it can be breathed in to reduce the urge to cough. 

Camphor belongs to the class of medicines called rubefacients/antitussives. When applied to the skin, it increases blood flow and local temperature of the affected area which suppresses and temporarily relieves pain sensations. It also eases cough, nasal/throat irritation by moistening air passages when used along with steam.
