Fluorometholone is used to treat eye conditions caused by inflammation (swelling). This medicine is a corticosteroid (steroid medicine) that helps reduce the swelling in the eye.

Fluorometholone is a steroid. It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause redness and swelling in the eye.

• Blurred vision
• Burning or itching of eyes
• Redness of the eye
• Dry eyes
• Discharge from eyes
• Eye discomfort

• This medicine should be used with caution in children and only under the supervision of your doctor.
• This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women unless necessary. 
• This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with a history of cataracts, glaucoma, or increased intraocular pressure due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
• This medicine may slow or delay healing and increase the risk of a bleb formation. 
• Patients are advised to remove contact lenses prior to the administration of this medicine.
• This medicine may cause blurred vision or other vision changes in some patients. 
• This medicine comes in two formulations, fluorometholone and fluorometholone acetate. Formulations containing fluorometholone are not recommended for use in patients less than 2 years of age while formulations containing fluorometholone acetate are not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.
