It is a nitrate. It works by relaxing the blood vessels which decreases the oxygen demand of the heart and reduces its workload. It thus prevents/treats attacks of angina (chest pain).
Uses
Used to treat angina pectoris, congestive cardiac failure and hypertension.
Side Effects
Low blood pressure, sore throat, irregular heart beat, weight gain, bluish discoloration, vomiting, chest pain, constipation, loss of appetite and swelling of lymph glands.
Precautions / Concerns
Avoid if you are allergic to Isosorbide dinitrate. Do not take if you have blood vessel disease, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease. Do not take with avanafil, sildenafil, tadalafil.
