Loteprednoletabonate is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause redness, swelling and itching.
 

 

Uses
  • Loteprednol is used to treat eye inflammation caused by allergies, shingles (herpes zoster), severe acne, irits, or certain other conditions.
  • The gel form of loteprednol ophthalmic is used to treat pain and swelling after eye surgery.
Side Effects

 

  • Eye irritation,
  • Eye discomfort
Precautions / Concerns

Tell your doctor if you have ever had:

  • glaucoma; or cataracts, or cataract surgery.
  • Loteprednol ophthalmic is not approved for use by anyone younger than 18 years old.
  • Do not touch the tip of the eye dropper or place it directly on your eye. A contaminated dropper can infect your eye, which could lead to serious vision problems.
