Elemental Calcium
Bones and teeth have large amounts of calcium; blood, muscles and other tissues have calcium as well. Supplemental calcium replenishes any deficiency.
Uses
Used to treat hypocalcemia. Calcium is also needed for the nervous system, muscle or joint, bones, and heart problems.
Side Effects
Intestinal problems, diarrhea, skin redness, sweating, and sensation.
Precautions / Concerns
Avoid if a patients are allergic to Elemental calcium. Do not take if a patients has heart disease, kidney disease. Do not take with digoxin, ketoconazole, levomethadyl, licorice. Consult with the doctor in case of breastfeeding and lactation.
Vitamin D2
Uses
Used in the treatment of rickets, low parathyroid hormone level, low phosphate level, osteomalacia, renal osteodystrophy, vit.D deficiency.
Side Effects
Polyuria, polydipsia, mild acidosis, anorexia, vague aches, weight loss, stiffness, mental retardation.
Precautions / Concerns
Avoid if patients are allergic to Vitamin D2. Pregnant & breastfeeding women consult with your doctor before taking it.
