Salbutamol is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and
widens airways. This makes breathing easier.
It is used to prevent and treat the symptoms of asthma and Chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease.
This medicine is also sometimes used to prevent and delay labor in cases where the
chances of premature birth are very high.
Shaking and trembling of arms and feet
Irregular heartbeat
Coughing
Difficulty in breathing
Swelling of face, lips, eyelids, tongue, hands and feet
Skin rash and spotting
Agitation and anxiety
Headache
Muscle pain and cramps
Sleep disturbances
Difficulty in passing urine
This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women
unless absolutely necessary.
Use of this medicine can cause a decrease in blood potassium levels and hence
should be administered with caution in patients suffering from Hypokalemia.
Use of this medicine has been associated with worsening of asthma symptoms in
some instances.
The prescribed amount may be inadequate indicated by no visible improvements in
symptoms.
This medicine should not be used in patients who have a history of allergy to milk
proteins.
This medicine should be used with caution in the elderly as the risk of adverse
effects are significantly high.
This medicine should be used with caution in children.
