Lactobacillus
- Lactobacillus Acidophilus is a probiotic. Lactobacillus is a type of bacteria. It works by restoring the balance of good bacteria in the intestine that may get upset after antibiotic use or due to intestinal infections.
- There are lots of different species of lactobacillus. These are "friendly" bacteria that normally live in our digestive, urinary, and genital systems without causing disease. Lactobacillus is also in some fermented foods like yogurt and in dietary supplements.

Uses
- Lactobacillus used to treat diarrhea caused due to infections, antibiotics, travel, chemotherapy, etc.
- It may also be used for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, bacterial vaginal infections, urinary tract infections, etc.
- This supplement is not recommended for use in immunocompromised patients and in patients with gastrointestinal perforations.

Precautions / Concerns
- Avoid taking Lactobacillus along with steroids (medications that weaken the immune system) as they might increase the chances of getting sick.
- Take Lactobacillus at least 2 hours before or after antibiotics. This is because taking Lactobacillus along with the antibiotics can reduce their effectiveness.
- This supplement is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women unless necessary.
