This medicine is an anticonvulsant that works in the brain tissue to stop seizures. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

• Sodium Valproate is used in the treatment of Epilepsy which is a brain disorder that causes repeated seizures.
• Sodium Valproate is used in the treatment of mania which is a mental disorder characterized by hyperactivity and racing thoughts.
• Sodium Valproate is used as prophylaxis in migraine headaches characterized by severe headache, eye pain, nausea, and vomiting.

• Dry or scaly skin

Avoid if patients are hypersensitive to Sodium Valproate. Avoid during pregnancy & lactation. Patients with porphyria, hepatic dysfunction should not take sodium valproate.
