Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a lubricant. It works similar to natural tears and
provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to dryness of the eye.
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is used in the form of eye drops as well as eye gels
as an ocular lubricant for the treatment of dry eyes. It is also used in the form of
injection as a surgical aid during certain eye surgeries.

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding
women unless necessary.
Ophthalmic dosage form: Use of this medicine may cause blurred vision in
some patients.
Ophthalmic dosage form: Some formulations of this medicine may discolor
the lenses.

Use of this medicine is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary.
This medicine has the potential of causing moderate to a severe allergic reaction in the body.
This medicine should be used with caution if the patient is suffering from diseases like cirrhosis, diverticulitis, myasthenia gravis, peptic ulcer disease, kidney diseases etc.
Use of large dose of this medicine can alter the levels of electrolytes like sodium and potassium in the body and may cause unexpected changes in blood pressure levels.
Use of this medicine should not be abruptly stopped as the patient is likely to suffer from withdrawal symptoms.
Use of this medicine may worsen the symptoms of internal fungal infections and hence should be used only under life-threatening circumstances.
The lowest possible dose of this medicine should be taken to keep the interactions and side effects away.
This medicine should be used with caution in pediatric patients as the risk of growth abnormalities, brittle bones, and other developmental problems are significantly high.
Use of this medicine can cause side effects like agitation, anxiety, depression, mood changes, and other psychotic manifestations and hence caution is advised.
Use of this medicine may delay the process of wound healing.
Immunization procedures involving the injection of a live and weakened pathogen should be avoided while taking this medicine.
This medicine may interact with any medicine that you might be possible taking.
- A synthetic fluoroquinolone (fluoroquinolones) antibacterial agent that inhibits the supercoiling activity of bacterial DNA gyrase, halting DNA replication.
- It is a drug used for bacterial and parasitic infection. Ofloxacin works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria.
- The tablet form of ofloxacin is prescribed for various bacterial infections, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, prostate infections caused by E. coli, skin infections, and some sexually transmitted diseases.
- It is used to treat gastrointestinal infections such as acute diarrhea or dysentery, gynecological infections, lung infections and urinary infections.
Tell your doctor if any of the following side effects of become severe or don't go
away:
- Nausea, mild diarrhea, constipation, gas, or vomiting
- Stomach pain or cramps
- Loss of appetite
- Change in ability to taste food
- Headache
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness
- Excessive tiredness
- Pain, swelling, or itching of the vagina
- Diarrhea can cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids to help rehydrate you.
- Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours.
- It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.
