Lignocaine
  • Lignocaine also known as Lidocaine is a local anesthetic. It works by blocking the transmission of pain signals from the nerves to the brain. This helps to decrease the sensation of pain.
  • Lingnocaine comes is used as a cream as well as a injectable, depending on the usage.
     

 

Uses
  • Lidocaine/Lignocaine is used for local anesthesia and Arrhythmia. Lignocaine Cream is used as a topical anesthetic that is used to produce a temporary loss of sensation in a part of the body before certain types of medical procedures such as inserting a needle, skin grafts, or other conditions as determined by the doctor or healthcare professional. It is also used to relieve pain, burning sensation, itching, and discomfort associated with minor cuts, scratches, skin irritation, insect bites, burns, etc.
  • Lignocaine Injection is an effective agent that is used to numb a specific area of the body to reduce pain and discomfort caused by surgical or other invasive medical procedures such as needle punctures, or insertion of a catheter or breathing tube. This medicine is also may be used for the management of heart rhythm disorders likely to occur during heart surgeries or a heart attack.

  •  Flushing or redness of skin
  •  Injection site bruising and red coloration
  •  Nausea or Vomiting
  •  Cracked or scaly skin
  •  Fast heartbeat
  •  Difficulty in breathing
  •  Join pain and swelling
  •  Swelling of face, lips, eyelids, tongue, hands and feet 
  •  Blurred vision
  •  Chills or cold sweats
  •  Dizziness when getting up suddenly from a sitting position
  •  Shaking and trembling of arms and feet
  •  Unusual tiredness and weakness
  •  Unpleasant aftertaste
  •  Ringing or buzzing in the ears
Precautions / Concerns
  •  Use of this medicine can cause Malignant hyperthermia characterized by a rapid rise in body temperature and severe muscle pain. Use of this medicine should be stopped at the first instance of this condition.
  •  The topical form of this medicine should not be applied to the eyes, ears or cracked skin surface.
  •  Use of this medicine to treat teething pain can cause severe damage to the brain and the heart.
  •  This medicine should be used with caution in patients having an impairment of normal liver function.
  •  This medicine should be used with caution in patients having an impairment of normal kidney function and pre-existing heart condition.
  •  Use of this medicine has been associated with breathing difficulties and hence it should be used with caution in patients having a preexisting breathing disorder.
Clotrimazole

Clotrimazole is in a class of antifungal medications called imidazoles. It works by stopping the growth of fungi that cause infection.

Uses
  • Vaginal clotrimazole is used to treat vaginal yeast infections in adults and children 12 years of age and older.
  • Used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other fungal skin infections (candidiasis). 
  • This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs.

 

 

Side Effects
  • Burning, stinging, swelling, irritation, redness, pimple-like bumps, tenderness, or flaking of the treated skin may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
  • Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
  • Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: blistering, oozing, open sores.
  • Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
Precautions / Concerns
  • Before using clotrimazole, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other azole antifungals such as econazole, ketoconazole, or miconazole; or if you have any other allergies. 
  • This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
  • Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history.
  • This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

 

Beclometasone
Chloramphenicol

It is used to treat bacterial infections.

Chloramphenicol is used to treat serious infections in different parts of the body.

Uses

Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which stops the growth of bacteria. It does so by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. This does not directly kill the bacteria, but prevents them from increasing in numbers, and eventually clears up the infection.

  • Gray syndrome in babies
  • Anemia
  • Dark colored urine
  • Sore throat and fever
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Confusion and delirium
  • Partial/total loss of vision
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Headache
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Burning, numbness, tingling in the arms and feet
  • Swelling of face, lips, eyelids, tongue, hands and feet 
  • Depression

 

Precautions / Concerns

This medicine is recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women only when absolutely necessary 

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from an impairment of the liver and/or the kidney. 

Report the use of this medicine to the doctor if a vaccination is scheduled.

This medicine should not be used to treat minor infections or infections where the causative organism is not identified.

It is recommended to complete the full course of treatment even when symptoms improve.

Long term and repeated use of this medicine should be avoided as the risk of getting a secondary infection are very high in such cases.

This medicine can cause symptoms like abdominal swelling, pale or blue skin, shock, breathing difficulties, low temperature etc when given to a newborn or an infant.  

Use of this medicine can lower the count of blood cells and cause anemia, bleeding, infections etc.

This medicine should be administered with caution in diabetic patients with frequent monitoring of blood sugar levels.

This medicine can reduce the effect of hormonal contraceptives and hence the risk of unintended pregnancies are high.

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in children, especially in infants.
