Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for inflammation (pain and swelling).

Piroxicam is used for pain relief. It relieves pain and inflammation in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis.

• Allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
• Changes in vision
• Chest pain
• Difficulty breathing or wheezing
• Nausea or vomiting
• Slurred speech or weakness on one side of the body
• Unexplained weight gain or swelling
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Yellowing of eyes or skin

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention:

• Diarrhoea
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Heartburn
• Indigestion

• Take it with food to avoid stomach upset.
• This medicine may raise your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. This is more likely in people who already have heart disease. People who use this medicine for a long time might also have a higher risk.
• This medicine may cause bleeding in your stomach or intestines. These problems can happen without warning signs. This is more likely if you have had a stomach ulcer in the past if you smoke or drink alcohol regularly, is over 60 years of age, are in poor health, or using certain other medicines.
