Dutasteride is used alone or in combination, to treat men who have symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland, which is also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Dutasteride helps improve urinary flow and may also reduce your need for prostate surgery later on.
Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. It blocks an enzyme which is necessary to change testosterone to another hormone that causes the prostate to grow.It helps to shrink the prostate and relieve the symptoms like difficulty in passing urine.

Headache
It may take 3 to 6 months to see the full beneficial effect of Dutasteride. Hence, continue taking the medicine as advised by your doctor.
Dutasteride is usually well tolerated. However, it may produce some mild sexual side effects such as low sexual drive.
Do not donate blood for 6 months after taking the last dose of Dutasteride.
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver disease or active liver disease due to an increased risk of liver injury.
Dutasteride is not recommended for use in women and children.
Tamsulosin is an alpha blocker. It works by relaxing the muscles around the bladder
exit and prostate gland so urine is passed more easily. This helps empty the bladder
completely and reduces the need to pass urine frequently or urgently in BPH.
Tamsulosin is used to treat the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
BPH is a condition that can occur in men. With BPH, the prostate is enlarged but
isn’t cancerous.

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Tamsulosin may lower the blood pressure and may cause dizziness, weakness. It is
advised to sit or lie down until the symptoms disappear.
Tamsulosin is not recommended in patients scheduled for cataract surgery due to
the risk of developing Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS).
